Most Caldwell Cigar aficionados tend to agree that Long Live the King is their favorite cigar line.. This may help their case, even if it doesn’t help my boy Robert’s… He’s getting old and he knows it. Caldwell Long Live the King 40th celebrates his 40th year on this planet (not sure how many in others) with a homage to his beginnings. He’s back to where he started blending Honduran tobacco for the love and inspiration he has for it and it’s once again proof that this cigar maker can reinvent his blending approach as many times as he wants. This cigar is very different than anything the Caldwell collective has released in quite some time. The cigar has a punch, yet it’s not technically strong; it’s got the Honduran twang, but it doesn’t dominate the profile. The Habano wrapper is a great enhancement to the blend of Honduran binders and fillers, yielding notes of leather, hickory wood, maple, chestnut, and a zesty undertone.
