Description
Casa 1910 has once again set the bar extremely high with their release of the Soldadera Edition, a cigar handcrafted to commemorate female soldiers or “Soldaderas” who fought alongside the Mexican Revolutionary Army in the early 20th century. With another testament to the brand’s unique branding, Casa 1910 has successfully turned to the trusted craftsmanship of Hostos Fernandez and Tabacalera La Isla to create three different blends under the brand, each honoring a Soldadera with their unique and resilient characters manifested in the cigars. Each of the cigars under the Soldadera umbrella provides a different experience; Teniente Angela is produced in the lowest quantity, although not yet technically a Limited Edition, definitely a short run; It is wrapped by a silky Habano wrapper from an undisclosed origin, over a double binder combination from Mexico and the Dominican Republic, and a mix of Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers, yielding a ton of complexity and main flavors of macadamia, oakwood, and undertones of caramel and shortbread.

The initial flavors upon lighting the Sampetrina are a mix of whipped cream and espresso foam, with a hint of pepper adding some spice to the mix. As the cigar progresses, there are notes of leather and earth that start to develop, giving the smoke a satisfying depth and complexity. Towards the middle of the cigar, there is a subtle sweetness that rounds out the flavors and adds a touch of smoothness to the smoke. The sweetness is balanced by a pleasant bitterness that comes from the wrapper – as the cigar continues, the flavors become more robust and present, with the black pepper more pronounced and adding some heat to the mix. The finish is long and satisfying, with the flavors lingering on the palate long after the smoke has dissipated.
