Nick Melillo of Foundation Cigars wanted to celebrate Foundation’s fifth anniversary back in 2020 with a special cigar. That is what came to be the original El Güegüense Macho Ratón. In PCA 2022 Nick announced the return of the format along with the introduction of The Wise Man along with it.
Both cigars come from the same root idea, after all, “Güegüense” does mean “Wise Man” and these cigars share similar components; they are, however, approached differently in the blending process and the smoking experience shows.
The dichotomy between The Wise Man and El Güegüense is one that has marked the current wave of the cigar industry their Nicaraguan flair and bombastic flavor backed by the cultural motivation that inspired them.
